The Pontefract FHS is run by volunteers and as such we regret we cannot undertake personal research projects. General enquiries are always welcome and you are welcome to make use of our Search Service and Publications List

We offer a single surname search and printout service from a continually expanding computer database compiled from the local Parish Registers which have currently been transcribed by the Society and a search of our 1851 Census index for Pontefract and the surrounding area.

Baptism Index £2.00 per surname
The following format is used for our BAPTISM database. Information may vary depending on what is available in the original Parish Registers, other information may be included
SURNAME CHILDS NAME FATHER MOTHER FATHERS OCCUPATION ABODE DATE & PLACE OF BAPTISM
Information supplied: A printout of ALL occurrences of a single surname (including known variants) from ALL the records in the Computer Database of the local parish register entries for Baptisms which have currently been transcribed.

Marriage Index £2.00 per surname
The following format is used for our MARRIAGE database. Information may vary depending on what is available in the original Parish Registers
GROOM AGE MARITAL CONDITION ABODE BRIDE AGE MARITAL CONDITION ABODE DATE & PLACE OF MARRIAGE
Information supplied: A printout of ALL occurrences of a single surname (including known variants) from ALL the records in the Computer Database of the local parish register entries for Marriages which have currently been transcribed.

Burial Index £2.00 per surname
The following format is used for our BURIAL database. Information may vary depending on what is available in the original Parish Registers
NAME OF DECEASED AGE ABODE PARENTS, SPOUSE, CAUSE OF DEATH ETC DATE & PLACE OF BURIAL SERVICE
Information supplied: A printout of ALL occurrences of a single surname (including known variants) from ALL the records in the Computer Database of the local parish register entries for Burials which have currently been transcribed.
All searches can be purchased via GenFair (results sent PDF by email) or Parish Chest (results sent PDF by email)
or purchased by post (see below)

Monumental Inscriptions Database £2.00 per surname
Check list of Churchyards & Cemeteries included in our search
Information supplied: A single surname search (including variants) from all the records in the Computer Database of Monumental Inscriptions from the local churchyards. New information is added as each Churchyard is surveyed.
NOTE: This is not a complete record of all Monumental Inscriptions in our area. Please check if the Churchyard or Cemetery you require is available.
